Silver Falcon Capital Names Paul Funkhouser Vice President

Funkhouser Will Lead New Investments for Direct Investment Company Founded by Former NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France-

Charlotte, NC, August 2020 — Silver Falcon Capital today named Paul Funkhouser Vice President of new investments, effective immediately.  Funkhouser will report to Silver Falcon Capital partner Austin Tate.

Silver Falcon Capital, founded by former NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France, is a direct investment company and brand incubator with offices in Charlotte, New York and Los Angeles.

Funkhouser will play a critical role in seeking new equity investment opportunities between $5-50 million in sports, entertainment, media, restaurant, retail, food and beverage consumer packaged goods, health, and wellness.

Funkhouser will lead new investments, deal origination and execution, as well as financial analysis, diligence, and market research.  

He will monitor portfolio performance and actively support management teams. Some of the firm’s recent investments include Innovation Endeavors, Planet, AlphaSense, Replica, Form Labs, Ukko, Farmer’s Fridge and Citrine Informatics.

They have also partnered with video game developer 704Games, indoor vertical farming company Plenty and custom designer handbag company Edie Parker. Silver Falcon Capital also has made extensive investments in fresh food restaurants including Urban Plates and Orlando establishments Prato Winter Park, Luke’s Bar and Grill and Luma on Park.

Previously, Paul worked in the Consumer and Retail Investment Banking group at both Houlihan Lokey in New York and Piper Sandler in San Francisco where he focused on sell-side M&A transactions. Prior to investment banking, Paul worked as a market development manager at AtriCure, Inc., an innovative medical device company, and as a tax associate in Ernst and Young’s Asset Management Tax Group.

Paul holds a B.A. in History from the University of Virginia, an M.S. in Management from Wake Forest University, as well as an M.S. in Accounting and MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Silver Falcon Capital’s founder, Brian France, spearheaded the modernization and exponential growth of the NASCAR industry.  As Chairman and CEO, Brian’s leadership grew the sport from a regional niche to the global sports, media, and entertainment powerhouse it is today. Founded in 1948, NASCAR remains controlled by the France family. France also is co-founder of the Luke and Meadow Foundation, named after his twins, with his wife Amy France.
